Customised shapes, volumes, colours, sizes + barrier additives available in rPET and PET:

All thanks to our Single-Stage injection stretch blow moulding process which is more environmentally friendly, customisable, and quicker than other processes.

What is Single-Stage (Hot Cycle) ISBM?

In this process, the rPET granulate is dried, heated up until melted, then injected into a mould to create a preform the exact weight and neck shape of the final product, it is then transferred to a bottle or jar mould on the same machine and blown into shape before cooling.

Benefits
This method is incredibly beneficial as it; allows for more complex and unique, non-circular shapes and volumes of bottles and jars, creates crystal clear results, is suitable for low volumes, allows complete control over the preform production (so no need to rely on external suppliers), and is less expensive than Two-Stage moulding. It is also easy to add colourant, UV protective additives and choose a custom PET/rPET mix at any time which all equals reduced lead times. Plus it reduces the energy required for production as the preform is only heated once.

Customisations available for PET and rPET bottles and jars:

UV Barrier Additive

We can mix in a UV barrier additive to the rPET or PET master batch during the production of our bottles and jars.

Benefits

This is useful because once consumable content is in a bottle or jar, too much UV from sun exposure or man-made lighting can negatively affect the nutritional contents.

UV rays can deplete vitamin A, B2, C, and E. Photo-oxidation degradation caused by UV light can also affect the smell, colour and taste of consumables, shorten the shelf life and negatively affect the image of the products – not to mention the brand.

Like glass, PET and rPET can block natural UV rays shorter than 315nm, but doesn’t naturally offer much protection against rays between 315nm – 400nm. UV barrier additives are added to protect fresh products, vitamins, milk products, and herbs and spices etc. from the harmful effects of UV light.

Oxygen Barrier Additive

We can add an Oxygen barrier additive to the rPET or PET master batch during the production of our bottles and jars.

Benefits

Similarly to UV light, oxygen has a degrading effect on the colour, flavour, and vitamin contents of many consumables. Adding a barrier inhibits the contents’ degradation.

PET does have a natural defence against oxygen permeation, but this can be strengthened with the addition of an oxygen barrier.

Custom Colours

We are able to produce any customised colour you require.

Our PET and rPET bottles and jars by default come in clear but can be coloured in many ways to add value to your brand or contents.

Our standard range of colours including:

Transparent:

  • Olive green,
  • Bottle Green
  • Amber
  • Blue
  • Red

Solid:

  • White
  • Silver
  • Black

All of these are available in a glossy or matte finish.

Benefits

Amber colouring can give an additional layer of UV protection but we recommend that UV barrier is used.

Otherwise, colour theory can be used to communicate your branded product with a certain first impression to the consumer.

Note: there is a more complex recycling process with black plastics that can make them less sustainable so this should be taken into consideration.

Screen Printing

Get a high-quality look and finish with custom screen printing on bottles and jars, available in all colours and many designs.

Graphic Mock ups

For custom bottles, we create custom mould designs, meaning we can create almost any shape you wish for!

We can also offer:

  • 3d printed versions of your customised product
  • Mock ups of the design by our inhouse graphic designer
  • Samples of the product

Our Design Work

We work with competent designers, aware of the impacts of colour, additives, closure materials, barrier systems, and labelling.

They know these details can mean the difference between a more or less reusable and therefore sustainable product.

“The key principles of the EPBP Design for Recycling Guidelines for PET bottles include:

  • Avoid the use of materials and/or components that are known to impede the PET recycling process or reduce the quality of the recycled PET.
  • Reduce the amount of non-PET components to allow for ease of separation and efficiency of recycling.
  • Design components, such as closures and labels, so that they can easily, safely, cost-effectively, and rapidly be separated and eliminated from the recycled PET.
  • The goal of improving the recyclability of PET bottles cannot compromise product safety.”
